Pearl Malumane is a senior analyst in the Policy and Regulation Division within the National Payment System Department of the South African Reserve Bank. She is involved in strategic policy projects that enhance the safety and efficiency of the National Payment System, as well as supports innovation, competition and financial inclusion. These projects include the exiting of cheques in South Africa, conduct within the National Payment System in respect of domestic card transactions and the review of the National Payment System Act. Prior to joining the South African Reserve Bank, she was the FirstRand Bank’s Payments Association of South Africa Authorised Contact, the official communication channel between the Payments Association of South Africa and the South African Reserve Bank. Further, she was involved in bilateral agreements between FirstRand bank and other banks, compiled regulatory reports and conducted research on global payments trends.
