Bridget Rose M. Mesina-Romero
Atty. Bridget Rose M. Mesina-Romero is the Acting Deputy Director of the Payment System Oversight Department (PSOD) under the Payments and Currency Management Sector (PCMS). The PSOD is charged with promoting safe, efficient and reliable payment systems in the Philippines. Atty. Romero primarily handles the formulation of policies in pursuit of this mandate, the implementation of payment system development activities towards accelerating the nationwide adoption of digital payments, as well as measuring the progress of these initiatives using selected payments indicators. Prior to PSOD, she was a member of the National Retail Payment System (NRPS) Core Team, and was instrumental in the formulation of the NRPS Framework, the establishment of a payment system management body and the formation of priority automated clearing houses that facilitate fast, convenient and secure electronic account-to-account fund transfers. She was also part of the team that drafted the bill that became the National Payment Systems Act, the legal framework for payment system oversight in the Philippines. She is currently part of the technical secretariat to the ASEAN Working Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (WC-PSS) and the EMEAP Working Group on Payments and Market Infrastructure (WG-PMI). She is also part of the BSP team to the AFI Working Group on Digital Financial Services. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Philippine Bar.
