Amina Tirana

Amina heads Visa’s policy and measurement strategies to advance inclusive growth, enable small businesses to thrive and deepen social impact, including engagement with governments and global organizations on these topics. She is also a Fellow at the Visa Economic Empowerment Institute, focusing on research and policies to advance digital equity. Previously, Amina established and directed the Office of the UNSG’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA), working closely with and advising the Special Advocate, H.M. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. Amina led policy and advocacy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to advance the foundation’s then-new Financial Services for the Poor program. She has also worked for the United Nations, Harvard Institute for International Development and other organizations in Asia, Africa, the Americas and the Balkans. She earned a Bachelor of Arts at Princeton University and Master’s of Public Policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
